Grandchildren Assume the Workload

While Grandmama was in the hospital and rehab with her broken hip, her grandchildren jumped in and helped out in many areas.  Special thanks to grass-cutters (David G., Angie, Wayne, and David Causey's dad); chicken-feeders (Angie, Brad, Beylee & Hayden); bathroom modifications (David C. and Rob); and limb-gatherers (Angie, Brad, Beylee & Hayden)! All of you were really good about visiting Grandmama and calling to check on her.  I also want to thank Angie and Brad for the many invitations to share meals with you.

Since she returned home, Rob built a ramp at the back door so she can get in and out with her scooter.

If I left anyone out, chalk it up to my senility.

                                          --Elaine Lester

Amy Stafford and Stephen Lester opened a club in Savannah on New Year's Eve with Stephen's band, Sinister Moustache, as one of the featured acts.  The Wormhole is a music and performance venue featuring bands, comedians, and other entertainment, as well as beer, wine, coffee, and more.  Since venues for live music are rare in Savannah, they hope this club will provide opportunities for local and other bands to perform.  For more information on this enterprise, go to www.wormholebar.com.

Congratulations to our

College Students

We are proud of our college students--Brad, Lee, and Blake.  All are maintaining 4.0 averages.

Brad is now working as a paraprofessional, a job he will continue while he does his student teaching.  He will graduate in May from UGA.

Megan and Ashley Honor Veterans

Megan and Ashley, along with other members of the Bonaventure C.A.R. Society, procured sponsorships for and placed 90 wreaths on graves at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Glennville, Georgia.  The ceremonial program was held on December 13 with 7 wreaths representing the branches of American military service as well as POW/MIA, but the remaining wreaths did not arrive until December 19.  On December 20, Megan and Ashley helped place wreaths on more than 80 veterans' graves.

The 2009 ceremony will be held on December 12.  For more information, please visit our website at  www.bonaventurecar.org.

Amy to Appear in "Animal Crackers" and "Harvey"

Amy has a busy schedule for the next few months.  She will appear as Grace Carpenter in "Animal Crackers" at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Tucker, GA, on March 26-28 at 7:30 p.m.

She will play the part of Myrtle Mae Simmons when the group stages "Harvey" the first week in June.

Amy will be teaching at a children's acting day camp that week, also.

Sons, Children, & Daughters of the American Revolution

If you are interested in membership in any of these heritage organizations, email me.  All you'd have to do is provide documentation to connect you to my DAR application--your birth certificate and your parents' marriage license!  I'll be glad to complete the application for you!
